GRIEF SUPPORT

Grief is our body and mind’s way of acknowledging loss.  Sometimes, depending on the nature of our loss, grief can be overpowering and heavy. Sometimes it can take on a life of its own, interfering with our usual daily functioning. We can feel disoriented, isolated and afraid.

I provide counseling support for those who are experiencing grief from the loss of a loved one (and other major losses-animals, loss of home, etc.) that can result in emotional upheaval and life altering change.

It is natural to want to reach out during times of uncertainty, and each of us is unique in our response to grief. We don’t adhere to a particular timeframe or set of feelings, thoughts or behaviors.

My framework of compassionate companioning fosters a sense of safety and trust allowing grief to unfold in its own time (and in its own way).  Loss is honored and healthy grief practices explored, along with identifying practical steps toward a new and meaningful life. This often includes an examination of personal history and perceptions that can result in feelings of guilt and isolation; it also includes accessing strengths and sharing vulnerabilities.

Rather than life being destroyed by loss, grieving can open us to a path of discovery and transformation.  It is hard work but it is always worth it.

I invite you to take the first step and reach out.
